About Mr.

Mr. Otema Francis Wani is a Food Security and Livelihoods and Market Systems Development (MSD) professional with over eight years of experience delivering resilience and development programmes in fragile and cross-border contexts across South Sudan, Kenya, and Ethiopia. He specializes in inclusive market systems and private sector engagement, with a strong focus on strengthening cross-border market linkages among pastoral and agro-pastoral communities. His work is centered on linking farmers, cooperatives, and enterprises to critical market functions, including access to quality inputs, financial services, and structured markets, with the aim of improving productivity, incomes, and long-term resilience. Otema has extensive experience integrating Market Systems Development (MSD) approaches with Natural Resource Management (NRM), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), and peacebuilding, supporting community-led solutions for sustainable land use, watershed management, and conflict-sensitive resource governance. He also brings strong technical expertise in agroecology and climate-smart agriculture (CSA), promoting resilient and adaptive farming systems that respond to climate variability and environmental challenges. At CORWADO, he leads the design and implementation of market-driven, inclusive food systems programming, working through strategic partnerships with private sector actors, cooperatives, and community institutions to deliver sustainable, locally driven impact.
